Barefoot Trimming

The following requirements that must be met for our horses to achieve this well being, and to benefit from the natural trim:

Natural boarding conditions- movement 24/7.  Stalling horses for lengthy periods of time negatively impacts their circulatory system, thus causing toxic buildup in the body. Daily movement is needed: 10-15 miles per day.

No horse clothing- No blankets, no leg wraps, etc.  These impede on horses thermoregulatory system, which impacts on the immunity system.

Nutritional variety and fed at ground level: continuous food up takes rather than a few meals a day. Free choice minerals should be provided. Feeding from round feeders and hay racks cause respiratory problems (heaves). Their natural body posture is mostly head- low.

Barefoot hooves soaked in water daily: In nature hooves are exposed to water daily, by wading into rivers and creeks in order to drink. Ask me for simple ideas of what we can do in our domestic situations to achieve this. Any kinds of grease or oils are useless for the hooves.

Regular trimming schedule: depending on the condition of the horses hooves, a schedule will be determined and could fall between 2-6 weeks, but should never be taken beyond 8 weeks.

The Barefoot trim is not just about going barefoot it’s a LIFESTYLE. My goal is to work with you and your horse to achieve this overall well being. The environment plays a much bigger role than what most horse owners realize.
